The history of the parishioners’ right to participate in and influence the choice of local clergy in Sweden and Finland can be taken back as far as the late Medieval Times. The procedures for electing clergymen are described in historiography as a specifically Nordic feature and as creating the basis of local self-government. In this article the features of local self-government are studied in a context where the scope for action was being modified. The focus is on the parishioners’ possibilities and willingness to influence the appointment of pastors in the Lutheran parishes of the Russo-Swedish borderlands in the 18th century. Merit was strongly emphasized in the Privileges of the Clergy (in 1723) and legislative reforms, as well as in the formalization of election practices in connection with clerical appointments in the Kingdom of Sweden in the early 18th century. According to existing research, this resulted in a deepening difference between the standpoints of the laity and the ecclesiastical authorities. The article is a contribution to the biography of the Catholic clergyman, parish priest in the parish of Łubniany located in Upper Silesia – the Rev. Franciszek Pogrzeba. He was one of the fourteen priests who signed the so-called “Appeal to Priests”, in compliance with which they broke off their cooperation with the Catholic German Center Party (Deutsche Zentrumspartei) and supported the Deputies of the “Polish Circle” in the German Parliament. After World War 1, the Rev. Pogrzeba actively engaged for incorporation of Upper Silesia into Poland. Celem artykułu jest analiza przepisów normujących zryczałtowany podatek dochodowy od przychodów osób duchownych w kontekście opodatkowania wynagrodzenia rabinów i podrabinów za czynności związane z koszeryzacją żywności. Badania przeprowadzone na potrzeby niniejszej publikacji opierają się na następujących tezach badawczych. Po pierwsze, w przypadku czerpania przez rabinów i podrabinów dochodów z tytułu koszeryzacji żywności spełnione są przesłanki podmiotowa i funkcjonalna. Podatnikiem jest bowiem osoba duchowna, zaś podejmowane przez nią w ramach koszeryzacji czynności stanowią formę funkcji o charakterze duszpasterskim.
